                - Superior Catalytic Efficiency – Acts as a highly effective phase transfer catalyst to accelerate reactions.
- Chromatography Application – Widely used as a buffer salt system in reversed-phase liquid chromatography.
- Enhanced Analytical Precision – Helps improve separation performance and detection accuracy.
- Versatile Utility – Applicable in both chemical synthesis and analytical testing fields.
Tetrabutyl quaternary ammonium salts serve as highly efficient phase transfer catalysts. The tetrabutylammonium hydrogen sulfate buffer system is commonly applied as an aqueous mobile phase in reversed-phase liquid chromatography. However, as the concentration of tetrabutylammonium hydrogen sulfate increases, the stability of this buffer system gradually decreases. Therefore, the buffer solution should be freshly prepared prior to use, and its effective usage time should not exceed 6 hours. After about 8 hours at room temperature, noticeable turbidity may occur, which can lead to chromatographic peak drift and even salt precipitation within the pump or chromatographic column, potentially causing serious damage to the equipment.

Tetrabutylammonium hydrogen sulfate can function as a surfactant, catalyst, emulsifier, disinfectant, bactericide, and antistatic agent. In addition, its buffer system is widely employed as an aqueous mobile phase in reversed-phase liquid chromatography, often delivering outstanding separation results for certain structurally unique compounds that are otherwise difficult to separate.
