Sodium oleate, also known as sodium octadecenoate or oleyl alcohol derivatives, is an organic compound with the chemical formula C₁₇H₃₃CO₂Na. It is a primary component of soaps derived from olive oil and tallow, and can also be produced through the reaction of sodium hydroxide with oleic acid.

As an amphiphilic compound containing both hydrophobic and hydrophilic groups, sodium oleate exhibits excellent emulsifying, penetrating, and detergency properties. It is readily soluble in hot water and is widely used as an anionic surfactant, as well as in applications such as fabric waterproofing.
