The pure product appears as a white to light yellow fine crystalline powder. It is non-toxic, has a bitter taste, and exhibits a relative density of 1.40–1.44. The melting point is not less than 285 °C. The compound is soluble in ether, acetone, and ethyl acetate, sparingly soluble in petroleum ether and dichloromethane, and insoluble in carbon tetrachloride, benzene, and water.
