Tributyl citrate (TBC) is an eco-friendly plasticizer and lubricant known for its non-toxic, fruity, and colorless characteristics. At room temperature, it is a transparent, oily liquid with a boiling point of 170°C (133.3 Pa) and a flash point (open cup) of 185°C. It is soluble in most organic solvents and offers low volatility, excellent resin compatibility, and high plasticization efficiency. Approved for use in food packaging and medical products in Europe and the U.S., it is also used in children's toys, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and fragrances.
TBC imparts excellent cold resistance, water resistance, and mildew resistance to products. Resins plasticized with TBC show good transparency, enhanced low-temperature flexibility, minimal volatility, low extractability in different media, and superior thermal stability, without discoloring when heated. Additionally, lubricants formulated with TBC exhibit excellent lubrication properties.
