Products Description of Poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA)
Poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA), commonly known as acrylic or plexiglass, is a high-molecular-weight polymer with the chemical formula (C₅H₈O₂)ₙ. It is valued for its high transparency, cost-effectiveness, and excellent machinability.
PMMA is produced through the polymerization of methyl methacrylate monomers, in which the carbon–carbon double bonds react under the action of an initiator to form long polymer chains. The manufacturing process is relatively straightforward, and the molecular weight and polymer structure can be tailored through different synthesis methods to satisfy the performance requirements of a wide range of applications.
