Guar gum CAS#9000-30-0

1. Natural Sourcing: Derived from guar beans, a renewable resource primarily cultivated in arid regions.

2. Versatile Solubility: Forms a mucilage with variable viscosity when dissolved in water, suitable for multiple applications.

3. Stable and Safe: Stable under normal conditions and has a neutral pH (5.0-7.0), with minimal toxicity.

4. Sustainability: The production process uses the entire bean, with protein-rich by-products repurposed as livestock feed, supporting sustainability.

Product Details

Guar gum is a natural plant-derived gum obtained from either carob tree fruits or guar beans. The carob tree, a perennial shrub, primarily thrives in Mediterranean coastal regions. Guar beans, on the other hand, are annual legumes predominantly cultivated in arid zones such as India, Pakistan, and Texas (USA), where they benefit from significant day-night temperature variations and adequate rainfall. Currently, the guar gum available on Chemicalbook is predominantly extracted from guar beans.

The production process involves hulling mature guar beans before sending them to milling facilities, where thermochemical treatment separates them into endosperm flakes, germs, and husks. The protein-rich germs are commonly repurposed as livestock feed, while the endosperm flakes are further processed into guar gum at the grinding facility.
