Products Description of Sodium Hydroxymethanesulphinate CAS#149-44-0
Sodium bisulfite formaldehyde appears as translucent white orthorhombic crystals or small granules, with an apparent density of 1.80–1.85 g/cm³. It is readily soluble in water and slightly soluble in alcohol. Under high temperatures, it exhibits very strong reducing properties and is capable of removing dyed colors, which is why it is commonly known as a “hanging white block.” The compound decomposes in acidic conditions and breaks down at around 120 °C, releasing toxic gases such as formaldehyde and hydrogen sulfide. While the anhydrous solid form is relatively stable, it will slowly decompose in humid air. Its aqueous solutions begin to decompose above 60 °C, with dilute solutions decomposing more rapidly than concentrated ones.

Product Application of Sodium Hydroxymethanesulphinate CAS#149-44-0
It is primarily used in the printing and dyeing industry as a dye discharge agent, stripping agent, reducing agent, and as an activator for styrene-butadiene rubber and synthetic resins. In addition, it is applied in the decolorization and bleaching of certain organic substances, such as in the synthetic rubber, sugar, and food industries. Under specific conditions, it can serve as a substitute for insurance powder.
