At present, buying interest in the Brazilian market has weakened, and negative international market news has further pressured prices. Local rare-earth intermediaries are experiencing inventory saturation, leading to a sharp decrease in procurement. These international developments have affected the export activities of Chinese ammonium sulfate producers and traders.
On the production and innovation front, many enterprises are also taking new steps. The caprolactam unit of Hunan Petrochemical is currently operating steadily, producing 2,880 tons of ammonium sulfate per day, fully supporting fertilizer demand during the spring agricultural season. Their ammonium sulfate is noted for its high quality, featuring large granules, minimal powder content, fewer organic impurities, and a clean white appearance—attributes that favor the production of high-grade nitrogen fertilizers. In the first two months alone, production and sales reached nearly 130,000 tons. Additionally, Wuhai Lubang Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd. obtained a patent on February 25, 2025, for “A Reaction Kettle for Preparing Ammonium Sulfate from Desulfurization Waste Liquid” (Authorization No. CN 222518604 U, application filed December 2024). This patented technology accelerates the reaction between sulfuric acid and ammonia in desulfurization waste liquid to produce ammonium sulfate, enabling the reuse of waste liquid and addressing pollution problems associated with traditional desulfurization discharge. It offers new technical support for environmental improvements in ammonium sulfate production.
There have also been advancements in logistics and transportation. Hebei COSCO Shipping Botou Logistics completed its first integrated combined-shipment export operation for ammonium sulfate. Spanning 19 days, the project coordinated 3 customers and 2 terminals, shipping 8 batches totaling 53,900 tons of ammonium sulfate to Turkey. The operation covered warehousing, transportation, processing, and loading. Despite challenges such as reduced transport capacity during the Spring Festival holiday and adverse weather conditions, the team adopted a “dual-port linkage” model that ensured efficient supply-chain operations and provided valuable experience for enhancing integrated logistics services for fertilizers and chemical products.
