Poly(vinyl alcohol) CAS#9002-89-5

1. Eco-Friendly Water Solubility:
Soluble in hot water and biodegradable, PVA replaces plastics in packaging films, agricultural mulch, and dissolvable laundry bags, reducing microplastic pollution.

2. Superior Film-Forming & Adhesion:
High hydroxyl density enables strong hydrogen bonding, creating durable oxygen-barrier films for food packaging and adhesive layers in paper/textile industries.

3. Biocompatibility & Low Toxicity:
High LD50 (>20,000 mg/kg) and non-carcinogenic (IARC Group 3) properties support safe use in pharmaceuticals, contact lenses, and wound dressings.

4. Scalable Industrial Processing:
Available in bulk powder form (1 FCL MOQ) with tunable solubility via molecular weight control, enabling cost-effective extrusion or solution casting for diverse manufacturing.

Product Details

Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) is a solid material that may appear as a white powder, flakes, or flocculent particles. Its glass transition temperature ranges between 60–85°C. Due to its numerous hydroxyl groups and polar nature, PVA can form hydrogen bonds with water, making it soluble in polar aqueous solutions. Additionally, it dissolves in hot hydroxyl-containing solvents like glycerol and phenol but remains insoluble in common organic solvents such as methanol, benzene, acetone, and gasoline.
