Product Description of Dimethyl Thio-Toluene Diamine (DMTDA) CAS No. 106264-79-3
DMTDA is a novel curing and crosslinking agent for polyurethane elastomers. It mainly consists of two isomers, forming a mixture of 2,4- and 2,6-dimethylthiotoluenediamine in a typical ratio of approximately 77–80% to 17–20%. Compared with the commonly used MOCA, DMTDA is a low-viscosity liquid at room temperature, allowing easier handling and application. It is suitable for construction and processing at low temperatures and offers the additional advantage of a low chemical equivalent.

Product Application of Dimethyl Thio-Toluene Diamine (DMTDA) CAS No. 106264-79-3
The primary applications of dimethyl thio-toluene diamine include the following:
DMTDA is a new liquid curing agent for polyurethane elastomers. It is widely used for chain extension or crosslinking in polyurethane casting, coatings, RIM, SPUA systems, polyurethane tires, and adhesives. It can also be used as a curing agent for epoxy resins.
When used as a hardener in two-component polyurethane elastomers based on TDI and MTDI, it is typically added at a dosage of about 10%. In construction and civil engineering, it is commonly applied as an additive in fire-retardant coatings for roofs and side walls, as well as in anti-corrosion coatings for metal materials such as the inner walls of iron pipes. Polyurethane products cured with DMTDA generally exhibit better performance than those cured with MOCA, without the need for additional post-treatment.
DMTDA is used in the manufacture of polyurethane printing squeegees and oil-pipe cleaning scrapers, where it enhances oil resistance and maintains a low volume expansion rate.
It is also applied in construction, coal and metal mining, pharmaceuticals, and metal stamping, and has wide use in the textile, papermaking, and printing industries. Overall, DMTDA offers broad application potential, ranging from aviation and aerospace sectors to general civilian industries.
