Sodium Hydrosulfide CAS#16721-80-5

                - Versatile Industrial Form:Available in various solid forms—blocky, granular, or powdered—making it adaptable to different industrial processing and handling requirements.
- Strong Alkalinity:Its aqueous solution is strongly alkaline, enhancing its effectiveness in a wide range of chemical reactions, especially in processes requiring pH adjustment or alkalinity.
- Reactive Chemical Properties:Reacts readily with acids to release hydrogen sulfide, which is useful in specific industrial applications such as metal processing and chemical synthesis.
- Hygroscopic Nature:Its ability to absorb moisture from the air supports controlled usage in moisture-sensitive formulations or environments.
Sodium hydrosulfide (CAS#16721-80-5), referred to as sodium hydrosulfide in Chinese, is a colorless crystalline substance in its pure state. Due to the presence of impurities, industrial-grade products typically appear as light gray or pale yellow solids in blocky, granular, or powdered form. It is hygroscopic and emits a characteristic hydrogen sulfide odor. When dissolved in water, it forms a strongly alkaline solution capable of reacting with acids to release toxic hydrogen sulfide gas.

Sodium hydrogen sulfide is widely used in the paper and pulp industry, dyestuff processing, and in the desulfurization of rayon and cellophane. It serves as a bleaching agent in textile, paper, and dye manufacturing. In the leather industry, it is employed for unhairing hides, and in copper mining, it functions as a flotation agent. Additionally, it is used as an intermediate in synthetic chemical processes and serves as a raw material for producing compounds such as ammonium sulfate and ethanethiol.
